Breaking News

Numerous students have been arriving on campus prior to 7:30 am. Although we are happy that you are so eager to come to school, students should not arrive on campus before 7:30 am because there are no adults to supervise them. As always, our main concern is for the safety and well being of our students.

Thank you Students, Parents, and Staff for all of those who contributed to the United Way; with your help Dundee Elementary raised over $950 for the United Way.

Dundee Elementary Media Center will host our annual book fair beginning on November 16th. Students will be able to purchase items during their Media Time and Tuesday evening at the Open Media Center. Cash is the preferred method of payment and tax is not included in the price of items.

Dundee Elementary Open Media Center will continue each Tuesday from 5-7 pm; there will be an open library from 5-6 pm with classes beginning at 6 PM.  On November 3rd we will be doing Microsoft Word; November 10th we will cover Internet Searches; November 17th we will do Make your own Family Tree as well as the Book Fair.

Mrs. Speight, our guidance counselor, will continue the Too Good for Violence program at Dundee Elementary. November classes will be held with third and fifth grade students. This program is designed to teach students how to get along with others and to solve conflicts peacefully.

Classroom Updates

First grade parents please remember to read 20 minutes a night and that there is homework Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Second grade parents your students should have homework each night. Please discuss the book that your child is reading and have them tell you what happens and what they think will happen.

Mrs. Elliott’s 3rd graders will be doing an author study on Tomie DePaola.  We will write letters to him when we are finished and mail them to him. Third grade parents make appointments to meet with your child’s teacher. It is important to get frequent updates on your child’s third grade year as it is a huge jump from second to third grade requirements. Please attend FCAT Parent Night on October 29, 2009 at 5:30 in the cafeteria to hear more about FCAT and your child. Please remember to sign your child’s agenda each night. To encourage higher thinking ask your children questions about their day that they have to think about and not answer a “YES” or “NO”.

Fourth grade parents remember that students have homework every night.

Dundee Elementary 4th/5th grade chorus will have two community performances in the coming weeks; the Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 3rd and the Christmas Parade on December 12th.

4th & 5th graders will be playing recorders this nine weeks in Music. If your child has a recorder at

home, please have them bring it in each week to music.

Fifth graders have worked very hard during this first 9 weeks, we have enjoyed getting to know each other and understand the 5th grade expectations. Please know that your 5th grader should have homework EVERY night (except weekends)!  Please schedule a time to meet with the teachers; we are eager to share your child’s progress with you! Students should be memorizing their multiplication fact for “Drill Day”!
