Eagle Lake Elementary

Eagle Lake Elementary has worked to provide the equipment, materials and expertise to help our staff and students become productive citizens in a technology driven society.  Our mission is to assist the school community to become technology literate by being able

·        to integrate technology into the curriculum

·        to retrieve, evaluate and use information

·        to employ higher level thinking skills to produce various types of projects electronically.

To accomplish this mission, the staff and students have access to networked computers in the administrative offices, the classrooms and the Media Center.  The Internet is available via a T-1 line.  Age appropriate software aligned with the curriculum is available in the classrooms.  The staff has access to e-mail through the county maintained Microsoft Exchange system.

The Media Center uses a computerized circulation system and an online card catalog.  The online catalog is available in the classrooms and at home.  The Media Center has the ability to broadcast video to the classrooms on 3 different channels.

A 30-station computer lab is available to all students.  The lab is networked into the classrooms and it is, also, available via the Internet.

The school has a TV studio and is able to create original programs and broadcast them throughout the school.  There is a microwave tower to receive broadcasts from the county.

This year our 5th grade is participating in the Ball State University (Indiana) Electronic Field Trips.  There will be 5 different field trips.  Lesson plans and an interactive website will be provided so the teachers may prepare the students.  A live broadcast of the field trips will be available in the classrooms.
