Celebrate Literacy Week
During this week we will celebrate literacy at Frostproof Elementary
School with many different activities. We want to join together with our
families to show our students how important it is to READ! Please join with
us this week as we CELEBRATE Literacy through the following activities:
*Tuesday: “Celebrate Story Day”! Students will work together with their classmates to create a poster about their favorite story during their reading groups today at school. Ask your child about their poster. The posters will be displayed in the Media Center.
*Wednesday: “Read My Shirt Day”! Wear a shirt to school today that has some type of saying or writing on it for others to read. Please be sure that your shirts are appropriate for school (no inappropriate words/language).
*Thursday: “Stop and Read day”! At 2:00 today all classrooms will pause and teachers will read their FAVORITE story to their class. Ask your child this evening what his/her teacher’s favorite story was.
*Friday: “Story Character dress day”! All students/Staff are invited to dress as a story book character. Students should be able to tell about the story character/book they are dressed as. This can be something home made very simply such as a pirate (have them find a pirate story), a mouse maybe ears made out of paper (find a story with a mouse in it) or even some BIG eyes after one of our “Fly Guy” stories. Have fun!
Also this week Frostproof Elementary School will have special activities at our normally schedule “Family Media Night” on Tuesday (3:30 – 5:30). We will have book BINGO, special prizes and an AR contest as well as our usual popcorn treat! Make sure you come and enjoy this time to read together as a family and take AR quizzes to earn AR points.
We will also have an AR Contest for the entire school this week: The class in each grade level that takes the MOST AR quizzes with the HIGHTEST class average (must be above 85%) will earn a lunch time at the picnic tables and a special treat for dessert!
Mark your calendar, the spring/class pictures will be taken February 4. Look for packet information soon.
