9th Grade

For the freshmen, carefully plan your tenth grade classes by considering graduation requirements and post secondary goals. Use the EPEP four year planner for help with this. Always remember that the courses taken in high school will be part of your school record and transcript. Familiarize yourself with graduation requirements and options. You must choose your graduation option by the end of your ninth grade year. Also check out the Bright Futures Scholarship program. Prepare yourself for the FCAT and become knowledgeable about alternative ways to earn credits.

10th Grade

For the sophomore, carefully plan your eleventh grade classes by considering graduation requirements and post secondary goals. Use the EPEP four year planner for help with this. Don't forget you take the PSAT in October. Students check your academic history to be certain that you’re meeting graduation requirements. Also, apply for scholarships if applicable. Remember college entrance requirements are more demanding than the State of Florida graduation requirements. College requires a minimum of 18 academic credits; including Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2, two credits in the same foreign language and ACT or SAT test scores. Prepare for the SAT and ACT using the online course on the College Board web site. Don't forget to prepare for FCAT.

11th Grade

12th Grade

For the senior, be sure you're meeting all graduation requirements: 24 Credits, 2.0 GPA, passed the FCAT reading and math, and met the Algebra 1 requirement. Remember college entrance requirements are more demanding than the State of Florida graduation requirements. College requires a minimum of 18 academic credits; including Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2, two credits in the same foreign language and ACT or SAT test scores. Community Colleges require a CPT test. Apply for Colleges, Community Colleges, or Vocational-Technical Schools by the end of their stated deadline. Apply for Scholarships and meet Application deadline. Don't forget to complete financial aid applications. Students try your best to visit all college and career fairs, financial aid night and senior information night. You must also turn in your community hours to Mr. Lineberger.

All graduating classes must earn a cumulative 2.0 in all courses taken.

Grade Reporting to Parents

Students at Kathleen High School will receive interim/progress reports at 4 ½, 9, and 13 ½ weeks. These grades are cumulative grades and are posted to the student’s academic history as follows:

Quarter/Semester Courses (9-week courses) will receive a final course grade at the end of the 9-week period.

Term Courses (18-week courses) will receive a final course grade at the end of the 18-week term (Report Cards are printed in January and in May.)

Grading System

C 70 – 79 Average Progress
D 60 - 69 Lowest Acceptable Progress
F 0 - 59 Failure

Students and/or their parents/guardians may request a computer printout of the student’s progress from teachers or counselors as needed.

Parents can receive on-line reports for student attendance and academic performance by completing an application available in any school office.

Kathleen High School makes every effort to notify parents if the student is not maintaining a “C” average in any of his/her courses at the Interim/Progress Report Intervals.
