Dear Parents or Guardians:

As mandated by the Florida Legislature, all incoming 9th graders will be required to select a major upon entering high school.  This major will determine their course selections in high school. 

We are proud to offer your student an outstanding opportunity in the Business and Technology field.  We are announcing the Polk Academy of Business & Technology which will be open by application to all students in Polk County and will be housed at Lake Gibson High School.

We will be offering six majors which will provide students with the knowledge and skills to be competitive in our global economy and will incorporate high academic standards, including honors classes, that meet high school graduation and college entrance requirements. 

• Accounting Operations
• Administrative Assistant
• Digital Design
• International Business
• Legal Administrative Specialist
• Web Design Services

By completing one of these programs of study and maintaining the proper grade point average, your child may be eligible for all Bright Futures Scholarships; the Florida Academic Scholar, Medallion, and the Gold Seal Scholarship.   In addition, we have an articulation agreement with Polk Community College which allows your child the opportunity to obtain college credits while in high school.

Our Academy is affiliated with Future Business Leaders of America, which is a dynamic organization of young people preparing for success as leaders in business, government, and communities.
