Welcome

Lakeland Highlands Middle School was established in 1975 and is located in Southwest Lakeland just off South Florida Avenue. The school is an A+ school that incorporates a modified block schedule servicing students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. Students are scheduled into eight total classes. Odd periods meet on Silver days, while even periods meet on Gold days.

In 2012, LHMS became a pre-academy with tracks available in fine arts, aviation, law, medicine, media design, and STEAM. Read more about the PALMS Academy.

The LHMS office will be open this summer during the following times:

MONDAY - THURSDAY
8:00 AM to Noon & 1:00 to 5:00 PM


Compass Odyssey

Students have optional summer assignments via Compass Odyssey. The summer learning paths are for math and literacy. It will be available through July 31st. Most Lakeland Highlands students are familiar with their Odyssey login. For more information, click HERE.


Oklahoma Tornado Help

Polk County Schools is partnering with kidsPACK to help the victims of the recent Oklahoma tornadoes.

Media Center - Summer

The LHMS Media Center will be open on select dates this summer:

Summer Robotics

This summer, Polk State College will be hosting the second annual TALON Robotics camp for Middle and High School students. Any student or parent who may be interested in the summer program, please e-mail Mr. Coker.


Summer Band

Any LHMS student interested in Summer Band (held at Southwest Middle), should download the REGISTRATION form. It also includes information for parents.

Google Apps:

Polk County Public Schools has the ability to create accounts for all students to allow for collaborative sharing using Google Apps for Education. These accounts will be used for school related projects. However, no student will be assigned an account without parent or guardian approval. The rules governing proper electronic communications by students are included in the Technology Acceptable Use Policy that is part of the Student Code of Conduct. Once accounts are assigned, students gain access to the wealth of collaborative tools available through Google Apps. Click here for permission slip and more information.


Student Portal

The Student Portal is now available for student use. Within the portal; students are able to view their grades, attendance, discipline, lunch account balance, as well as having access to a plethora of educational online resources.

Students will login using their Polk-Fl account info. Student logins/passwords can be obtained from any teacher or guidance counselor. They are encouraged to keep their user name and password in a secure location in order to maintain its confidentiality.
