Attendance Policies

Regular school attendance is a must in order for each student to progress and it is mandatory for Berkley. We have set our attendance policy in effect to help to ensure that all students get the benefit of a full education.
Attendance Policy:
1. Letter home after 2 unexcused absences in a grading period.
2. Parent conference after 3 unexcused absences in a grading period.
3. Probation after 6 unexcused absences in a semester.
4. 10 days unexcused absences in the school year will result in termination.
Excused Absences:
An excused absence is defined as an absence that has the sanction of the parent and the school. The following absences are acceptable and will be excused:
1. Personal Illness: A student shall be excused for absences caused by personal illness. A note explaining the absence which has been signed by the parent must accompany the student on the return to school. The school will require a doctor's certificate after five (5) illness days in a semester.
2. Illness or Death in the Immediate Family: A note explaining the absence that has been signed by a doctor of funeral home must accompany the student on return to school.
Unexcused Absence:
An unexcused absence is defined as an absence that does not have the approval of the school.
Tardies:
1. Letter home after 3 tardies.
2. Probation after 6 tardies.
