Students love to have their family eat lunch with them. Please
keep in mind that if you are eating lunch with your child, you MUST
first sign in at the office and get a visitor sticker before you go to
the cafeteria. Berkley staff check all visitors for a visitors
sticker and if you do not have one, you will be asked to leave the
cafeteria and go to the office to sign in. You will need to
have a visitors sticker even if you are regular visitor to our school.
This is done to ensure the safety of the students.
When you are eating lunch with your child, you must sit at the round
tables that are off to the side of the cafeteria. Visitors are not
permitted to eat lunch with their child's class.
Your child may not bring a friend to eat lunch with you UNLESS that
child has a signed note from their parent/guardian stating that it is
okay for their child to eat with you.

 |
If your child is on full paid or reduced lunch, they will need to bring
lunch money to keep their account current. If a student's lunch
account drops to a negative balance, you will receive a note to let you
know. If a student's account reaches a negative $6 balance, that
student will only receive a sandwich and milk for lunch until their
account is paid in full.
It is easiest for the lunch staff to take lunch money in the
morning. This way, they do not have to hold up the lunch line in
order to put money in your child's account. Please make sure to
remind your child to bring their money to the lunch room first thing in
the morning when they arrive.

Good behavior in the cafeteria is always a must. When the students
first come into the lunch room, they will need to walk through the lunch
line to get their food and then walk to their seats. Students are
expected to remain in their seats at all times and are not allowed to
get up without permission. If there is an emergency or your child
needs help, they will need to raise their hand and a Berkley staff
member will help them.
Throwing food, yelling, getting up, etc. is not permitted and will
result in time out or an office referral. If the lunchroom gets
too loud, the lights will be turned off. When this happens, there
is no talking allowed until a staff member says otherwise.
Remember that there is a classroom in the cafeteria this year and we
have to respect their learning environment.
When it gets close to the end of lunch, the students will need to pick
up all trash in their area. If weather permits, a staff member
will escort each class to the bench area outside the cafeteria where the
class will sit quietly on the benches and wait until their teacher picks
them up. Otherwise, each class will line up quietly at the door
until their teacher arrives.
