Fifth Grade
Mr. Hogan, Howard Mathis, April Tanner
We are excited about our 5th grade students this year. They are
enthused about all the wonderful things they expect to learn
this year. In math
our focus skill was Place Value, rounding whole numbers and
decimals, adding and subtracting decimals and whole numbers, and
ordering numbers. We
are currently learning how to multiply by two and three digits
numbers. In
Reading, our focus skill is identifying Main Idea and Details.
We studied Word Analysis, Text Structure and Theme.
This year in Science we
are proud to have our first Science Club sponsored by Mr.
Mathis. The Science
club is opened to students in grade levels 3, 4, 5 after school
on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The students are learning about plants life and their
growth cycle. In the
classroom we are currently studying about the states of Matter.
It is our school goal that all of our students will make AYP
this year.
Parents please contact your child's teacher if you have any
questions or would like to volunteer at school. Keep in mind
that 5th grade is planning to attend Biz Town in the Spring of
2010. Please encourage your children to continue to make good
choices.
