Our Mission

Daniel Jenkins Academy is a school of choice with emphasis placed on Florida Environmental Studies. We believe that it is necessary that students understand the need to preserve Florida’s resources and environment in order for the quality of life to continue in our state.

These environmental science classes put a strong emphasis on studying the waters surrounding our peninsula.

Student Safety

Please do not bring your child to school until 8:15 AM. At that time, students should choose to report to:  the lunchroom for breakfast OR the gymnasium. All students will remain in these two locations until 1st period begins.

Important Dates

 

FAIR (Reading Assessments): September 14th - 18th

Staff Development Day (no school for students): Monday, September 21st

Open House: Tuesday, September 22nd  5:00PM - 7:00PM

Interim Reports will be sent home: Friday, September 25th

Teacher Work Day: Friday, October 23rd

Report Cards will be sent home: Tuesday, November 10th

 

Agendas and Uniforms

School Agendas and School uniforms are on sale in the Front Office.

Physical Education uniforms are being sold by the P.E. teachers.

Immunizations

Make sure your child's immunizations are updated and on record in the office. Letters were sent home for those students who needed documentation of their shots.

 

Bell Schedule The school day for students begins at 8:40 a.m. and the tardy bell rings at 8:45a.m.  The student day ends at 3:45 p.m. It is the students’ responsibility to listen for his/her bus.

-          1 agenda/planner, on sale at the school

-          1 pencil pouch

-          #2 pencils (no mechanical pencils)

-          Ink pens (blue or black)

-          Loose-leaf notebook paper

-          Hand-held pencil sharpener

-          1 large pink eraser

-          personal earphones with 1/8 inch mini plug to be carried in book bag (earphones are similar to headphones used with MP3 players)

Parent Internet Viewer

Parent Internet Viewer is a great way for students and parents to monitor gradebook information. If students or parents had a PIV login for Daniel Jenkins Academy last year, the password can still be used at this time. New students to DJA this year must fill out an application and have it notarized.

Student PIV logins will be issued in September, 2009 during class. Parent PIV logins will be issued in September as well.
