Returning members Thursday, August 13th, 1:00 PM
Bring with you:
Both the completed medical and field trip forms. (Remember, your medical form must be notarized.

registration, and we will have a notary here to assist you.)
Your Crank-Up fee in either cash or check ($75 - checks payable to Dreadnaught Band Boosters). If
you cannot pay the crank-up fee at the time of registration, please let us know so that we can work
out a payment plan.
What to Bring
You will need to wear shorts, a t-shirt, socks, sneakers, and sunscreen. No
flip-flops or sandals are permitted. School dress code will be enforced at all times during band
camp no bathing suits, crop tops, halter tops, or other inappropriate attire.
You will need to bring your instrument, lyre (can be purchased at Carltons or other music
vendor), flip-folder (provided on the first day), two pencils, and sunscreen. Color Guard
and majorettes should check with their coaches for specific items needed for crank-up.
It would be a good idea to wear a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen for outdoor activities
(notice how we keep stressing "sunscreen" please read the Health & Safety
info below).
Dinner will be provided for you each evening. This cost is included in your crank-up fee.
Students will not be able to leave campus at all during dinner breaks.
A water cooler or water bottle for your use. We will also provide water, but you need to bring
your own container!
Health & Safety
Crank-Up is the most physically and mentally exhausting part of the entire marching season.
We will have a great time, but we will work hard non-stop. Please observe the following
guidelines to make sure you take care of yourself during Crank-Up:
Get lots of sleep. This is not the time to stay up until the early hours of the morning
with your friends. Go to bed soon after you get home each night youre working hard, and
your body needs rest.
Drink water and sport drinks no soda or fruit juice. Drinks with lots of sugar will
dehydrate you quickly and drain your energy! Water, Gatorade, Powerade, Propel, etc. will both keep
you hydrated and help maintain your energy level.
Eat healthy! High-starch foods like pasta, potatoes, and breads will keep higher levels of
stored energy in your body. Sugars and sweets will give you quick energy bursts that fade just as
quick and wont help you maintain your strength.
Strrrrrretch! We will stretch everyday as a group before we start marching, and its
a good idea to stretch again on your own at home each night to keep your muscles from cramping.
If you follow these guidelines, drink lots of water and exercise good common sense, you will
feel great and be in good shape for the entire week! If you ignore or go against these
guidelines, you could potentially run the risk of getting sick or injured. Its our job to
keep you healthy and safe for the ENTIRE marching season, so dont get sick or get hurt
before we even get through Crank-Up!
Just a reminder: The use, possession, or being under the influence of any drug, substance
not specifically prescribed by a physician, or alcoholic beverage is expressly prohibited
before, during, and after this and any school-sponsored activity. Failure to comply with this
will result in school disciplinary action and/or expulsion.
Other Reminders
Please do not schedule any outside appointments during the stated times. Students will remain
ON CAMPUS during the dinner break each evening. Please call the band room if you have any
specific questions prior to crank-up.
Our director and staff are at camp to teach music, marching and drill, as well as to help
instill self-discipline and pride within all of our members. If we are to be a successful band
this year, every rehearsal is an important one. Please come prepared to work. Well get the
job done and have some fun at the same time!
