Our mission at Floral Avenue Elementary is to provide a
supportive learning environment for all children to ensure that they become
productive, responsible citizens in an
ever-changing world.
Current News
FCAT Scoring Has Changed!
The Florida Department of Education changed the way the FCAT 2.0 is scored. This new change has raised the requirements for a student to earn a proficient/passing score of Level 3 or higher. These changes will go into effect for this school year! Please take time to read and explore the links below.
These changes will effect our students. At Floral Avenue Elementary, some of the strategies we are using at school to help our students are:
a. Building reading stamina
b. Increasing the amount of non-fiction text we are reading
c. Using research based instructional strategies consistently and with fidelity
d. Emphasizing across curriculum areas
e. Providing extra instructional time for targeted students
Some ways you can help at home are:
a. Make sure your child attends school EVERY day.
b. Do not check your child out of school early.
c. Have your child read at home 20 minutes each night.
d. Monitor your child's homework and agenda daily.
e. Ensure that your child gets enough sleep each night.
f. Encourage your child to always put forth their
best effort.

THE MY POLK SCHOOLS PARENT PORTAL
Parents can now access their student's information from any computer with an internet connection. The
MyPolkSchools.net Parent Portal allows parents to check current grades, obtain immunization status, learn if their child had any recorded discipline or attendance issues
throughout the day, check their child's lunch account balance, and even see what their child purchased in the lunchroom- all before their child comes home from school.
