I have been an elementary teacher for 17 years. I received my elementary/early childhood degree from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia. I have also received additional training in Kagan Cooperative Learning, Kagan Multiple Intelligences, Thinking Maps, Math, Reading, Technology and Writing. A few of the strategies and resources I use are brain breaks, mind maps, class/team building, hands-on math, technology and reader's theater to create a risk free, encouraging classroom environment. I hope to continue making a positive difference in young children's lives for years to come. My goal is for each child to feel valued for their individual strengths and empowered by their learning experiences!
Hello! My name is Joy Montgomery, and I was raised in the beautiful city of Cincinnati, Ohio. Upon completion of high school, I traveled to Florida Southern College, where I received my degree in Elementary Education. Most of my early teaching years were spent with preschool. It was there that I realized my love for teaching younger children. My interests are my family, art, music, sports, and volunteer work with the Junior League of Greater Lakeland. I also have a very large interest in the fine arts. I am able to embrace this love of the arts by incorporating it with my instruction. Young children’s minds are truly a sponge, and the more ways they are exposed to various types of culture, the more well-rounded they become!
