Dress Code Information

Bottoms: Khaki/Tan and Navy Blue No Jeans Allowed (Must have belt loops)

Walking Shorts, Slacks, Skorts, Skirts, Skirted jumpers Must be plain, solid-color Twill.

Tops: Navy Blue, Red or Black (Solid color with collar)

Must have long or short sleeves, Knit polo-type, Oxford or woven dress shirts, blouses, turtlenecks. School t-shirts are OK – (available through our school office) $9.00 Short Sleeve - $10.00 Long Sleeve.

The Dress Code does not allow for clothing with colored trim, Stripes, Embroidery, decoration, etc. It also does not provide for overalls (overalls with pants or shorts), sweat pants, knit pants/skirts, leggings, etc.

Student ID Badges will be issued and are part of School Dress Uniform

School administrators will determine if clothing is appropriate for school and complies with district rules. For more specific information on the student dress code, please refer to the Code of Student Conduct.

Dress Code

Students at all Polk County elementary and middle schools wear uniforms. The uniform top must be a school shirt or a collared shirt (red, white, or navy blue). Sweatshirts / fleece jackets worn over the school shirt must meet the red, white, or navy blue requirement also. The uniform bottom may be shorts, jeans, or skirts, but they must be plain denim. No patches, quilting, leather striping, etc. is allowed. All shirts must be tucked into the bottom portion of the uniform and a belt is required. School shirts, sweatshirts, and jackets may be purchased in the KMS office. P.E. uniforms may also be purchased in the office. Book bags / backpacks are NOT allowed

Participation in the extramural sports program requires a completed physical to be on file.  Physicals are valid for the entire school year and will count for each sport rotation.  The first sports rotation is in September.  Team spots are limited and physicals are required before a student can participate in tryouts, practices, or contests.

Parents can now access their student’s information from any computer with an internet connection. The MyPolkSchools Parent Portal allows parents to check current grades, obtain immunization status, learn if their child had any recorded discipline or attendance issues throughout the day, check their child’s current lunch account balance, and even see what their child purchased in the lunchroom – all before their child comes home from school.

New School Lunch Information (Updated 2/26/13)

The School Nutrition Department will offer families the option of applying for free and reduced price meals through an on-line application. Paper applications will still be available for families who do not have internet access.  On-line applications greatly reduce the time that teachers and staff spend handling paper applications as well as the expense of printing. Most importantly, students will be approved for meal benefits much quicker.  Any student who is currently receiving free or reduced priced meals is approved for benefits for the entire 2012-2013 school year.
