News Release for Kingsford Elementary:

Kingsford Elementary was awarded a grant in the amount of $1,983.35 from the Akroyd Foundation for Creative Education Fund, held at the Community Foundation of Central Florida (www.cfcflorida.org), to purchase LEGO Robotics kits. A Robotics club was initiated at the beginning of the 2012-2013 with students from 4^th and 5^th Grades participating every Friday. Students were invited to be in the club based on their classroom and benchmark assessment performance during the school year. The students had to maintain their grades over the course of the year to be able to attend weekly.

The students had to follow directions to construct a robot, and used computer software to make their robot move specific ways. This grant has provided opportunities for our students to improve their critical thinking and problem solving skills.

**** Note there is a Detour to get to Kingsford . ****

Starting March 4 to May Sometime, Dean Street will be closed from Highway 37 to just East of the school. You will need to Detour from Highway 60 to Diesel Road or Jenkins Rd turn on to Moores lane then on to Kid School Rd.
