The New MyPolkSchools Parent Portal

Parents can now access their student’s information from any computer with an internet connection. The MyPolkSchools Parent Portal allows parents to check current grades, obtain immunization status, learn if their child had any recorded discipline or attendance issues throughout the day, check their child’s current lunch account balance, and even see what their child purchased in the lunchroom – all before their child comes home from school.

CDC Recommendations

The CDC recommends some simple precautions to reduce the risk of contracting or spreading any type of virus:

  1. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  2. Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
  3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth as this spreads germs.
  4. Stay home and limit contact with others if you are sick.

Jeffrey Johnston Stand Up For All Students Act

The Florida Legislature’s House Bill 669 requires school districts to adopt a policy prohibiting bullying and harassment of students and staff on school grounds or school transportation, at school-sponsored events, and through the use of data or computer software that is accessed through school computer systems or networks. Bullying is (1) unwanted negative behavior that is (2) repeated and (3) causes an imbalance of power. Bullying and harassment is further defined in the Polk County School Code of Conduct. An anonymous form is available in the front office for reporting incidents that will be investigated.
