On behalf of Superintendent Kathryn LeRoy, we are pleased to announce that in collaboration with the Polk Education Association (PEA), the following dates have been chosen as the five Student Early Dismissal days for school year 2013-2014:

·        Wednesday, October 9, 2013

·        Wednesday, December 4, 2013

·        Wednesday, February 5, 2014

·        Wednesday, April 9, 2014* (*Staff Development Day for teacher preparation for standardized tests, e.g., FCAT/End of Course Assessments.)

·        Wednesday, May 7, 2014

Please note that in a major change for school year 2013-2014, students will be dismissed 150 minutes earlier on each of the five Early Dismissal Days.  The change in the number and length of Early Dismissal Days is as a result of the District reaching a successful tentative agreement with the PEA, which is now pending ratification and School Board approval.  Four of the five Early Dismissal Days are designated to allow teachers to have additional planning time.  The remaining Early Dismissal Day, April 9, 2014, is designated as a Staff Development Day.
