An Intensive
Reading Program
“READ 180 can turn
your life around!”
READ 180 is a researched-based reading program designed to help
students improve their reading ability, comprehension, spelling, vocabulary,
and fluency. This program is especially for those students who did not score
3 or above in reading on the 2009 FCAT.
The students are grouped randomly or by individual needs. Each
group will rotate through (1) teacher directed group, (2) silent reading
group, and (3) computer group. The SRI Test results direct the level the
student will work on when in the computer group. The computer program
updates the students needs daily. These groups last about 20 minutes each.
HOMEWORK
1. The agenda should be signed weekly by parents. (This
is for a grade.)
2. Spelling/Vocabulary is assigned weekly. The work for
each lesson is graded on Thursday and the S/V Test is on Friday.
3. Students are encouraged to read out loud and/or silently 20-30 minutes daily. This is to enhance fluency and reading comprehension.
Announcements
1. Students now have their reading levels, lexiles, so they know
how to select a new book in the Media Center, in the classroom and at the
store.
2. The students are completing FAIR so that they will know which reading strategies they need to work on the most.
3. The links from the Media Center that Mrs. Page presented to the
classes during their orientation.
4.Thank you for your continued support and your attendance at Open
House and the LHMS Coffee.
5. Please sign Agendas each week and sign interim reports this
weekend.
