The Cougar's Mark

Lakeland Highlands Middle School has its own newspaper, The Cougar's Mark. The Cougar's Mark staff has students from grades 6-8 working in different departments, i.e., editors, reporters, production and circulation.  Brainstorming meetings are held once a month to prepare for the issue to be published at the end of each month.  Reporters receive assignments from this meeting and begin their interviews, investigations, and take photos.  The typing pool meets as needed to type the copy provided by the reporters and as edited by the editors.  The production staff drops all articles into a format they design.  Finally the paper is printed and the circulation department sells them from classroom to classroom on Circulation/Sale day.  Interested in joining the newspaper staff?
