Academics

At Philip O'Brien Elementary, students have the opportunity to learn in a setting of excellence.  Our professional staff believes in challenging our students with both traditional and innovative materials and strategies.  Teachers follow the Polk County Curriculum, incorporating skills and standards set by the State of Florida.

Using an integrated approach, teachers expose students to both fiction and non-fiction literature, while engaging them in varied activities that meet their needs.

In addition to language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science, students are given opportunities to explore music, art, physical education, guidance, media, television production, and computers.  We take pride in our commitment to provide a curriculum that follows state and district guidelines and meets the needs of each individual student.
