Meet our Library Specialist
Minnie Kester
Media Specialist
In Her Own Words
My philosophy of the Media Center is to
encourage the love of reading in our students. We are here to
guide and direct the student in their reading selections. A
book can open doors that otherwise we may never walk through.
Books encourage the use of our imaginations and expands our
knowledge in many areas. Reading is the key to all learning.
Library Information
Our library has an open schedule in
which students may come to the Media Center any time throughout the
day. Teachers may schedule a time in the library to co-teach a
lesson with the Media Specialist. The Media Center is open for
students to come in and take an AR quiz or to do research. We
also have a pass available for students to earn "pleasure reading"
time. We want the students to feel welcome and to use it
frequently. The media center hours are:
| Monday |
7:30 - 7:55 5th graders |
| Tuesday |
7:30 - 7:55 4th graders |
| Wednesday |
7:30 - 7:55 3rd graders |
| Thursday |
7:30 - 7:55 2nd graders |
| Friday |
7:30 - 7:55 K-1st graders |
Closes 3:15 except Tuesdays 2:45
Circulation Policy
Students in
2nd - 5th grades may check out 2 books at a time for a 2
week period. We encourage students to
return the books as soon as they are finished with them.
This allows for other students to have access to the
materials instead of the book just sitting in someone's
desk. Books may be renewed if more time is needed.
Kindergarten and 1st grade may check out 1 book at a time
for a 2 week period unless they are participating in
Accelerated Reading, then they are allowed to check out 2
books. Again, please have your child return the book
as soon as they have finished reading it.
Students are not fined for overdue books, however, they are
expected to return them on time, so others can borrow them.
Students with an overdue book are expected to return it
before checking out additional books.
Lost or damaged books must be paid for before any other
materials may be borrowed from the media center.

Our Accelerated Reader theme for this school
year goes with the
Magic Tree House Series:

The students will earn rewards
based on their quiz scores. We are encouraging the students to
maintain an 85% average.
Accelerated Reader®
We have been using the Accelerated Reader Program at Medulla to
give our children incentive for reading. It is our belief that
good readers make good students. Help us promote reading by having
your child read each night. Click on the book icon under the AR
sorting to go to our listing of book quizzes. The
list is in PDF format. If you do not have Adobe Reader, please
