Guidance Clubs
The Guidance Counseling program at North Lakeland Elementary School
addresses whatever might be interfering with the child's ability to
learn, to succeed and to participate in the learning process. Mrs.
Vandersteen assists students with their social and personal development
by facilitating individual and counseling groups.
The groups deal with issues such as:
- social skills
anger
control- separation/divorce
- self-esteem and peer mediation
She also participates in parent/teacher conferences. Mrs. Vandersteen teaches and implements the school-wide positive behavior support system.
The goal is for the students to:
take pride in their own efforts- feel responsible for their own choices
- acquire good work habits and
- develop positive attitudes toward school and life!
