Thank You Summit Consulting!

On Tuesday, June 18, eighty-nine employees from Summit Consulting came to volunteer at Oscar J. Pope Elementary School.  The volunteers assisted with touch up painting, landscaping, packaging staff handbooks, labeling Action 100 books, counting Action 100 folders and medals, and rearranging items in one of the storage rooms. 

We are very grateful to the employees of Summit Consulting for their volunteer work.  It's no surprise they were awarded the Superintendent's "Business Partner of the Year" award for 2012-2013!

New School Hours

The student hours for Oscar J. Pope Elementary School will change with the 2013-2014 school year.  Student instructional time will now be from 8:00 A.M. to 2:45 P.M.  Please make arrangements now so that you are prepared for the earlier release time.

Summer Hours

During the summer vacation, all Polk County Public Schools will operate on a ten hour, four day work schedule.  The office at Oscar J. Pope Elementary School will be open Monday through Thursday from 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. each week during the summer except the week of June 30.  During the week of June 30, we will close on Thursday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.  We will reopen on Friday, July 5, from 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

New Student Registration

Are you ready to enroll your Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten student for the 2013 - 2014 school year?  Please call our Terminal Operator, Mrs. Ann Diedrich, at 499-2992 to discuss the paperwork needed to enroll your child.  Our office hours are 7:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.  We will be glad to assist you with enrolling your child at Oscar J. Walk In Clinic Locations

Students already enrolled in a Polk County Public School that will attend Oscar J. Pope Elementary School next school year should inform the current school of this change now so that office staff can prepare for your child's departure.  Informing both schools of changes now will help ensure that your child has a seat at his/her zoned school.

Free and Reduced Meal Applications Now Available Online!

The School Nutrition Department will offer families the option of applying for free and reduced price meals through an on-line application.   Paper applications will still be available for families who do not have internet access.  Online applications will greatly reduce the time that teachers and staff spend handling paper applications as well as the expense of printing.  Most importantly, students will be approved for meal benefits much quicker.    Questions should be directed to Susan Ehrhart at 863-534-0590 or susan.ehrhart@polk-fl.net.
