Congratulations to Mrs. Ann Smith!

Mrs. Ann Smith was chosen to be Teacher of the Year for 2007-08.

Mrs. Ann Smith has been teaching at Oscar Pope in the Orthopedically Impaired Unit since 1980. She has been an ESE teacher since 1972.

"Teaching children with special needs became a dream for me when I was taking a college course and observed in classrooms in Polk County. There are so many kids who just need a little extra time or some extra encouragement to succeed and those are the children who need me. Some people feel my job is very challenging, but it is just something that I love doing because I am helping to make a difference as a teacher."
