Padgett Elementary- a diverse learning community, strongly committed to preparing all students to become problem solvers and lifelong learners through the use of rigorous and relevant learning and in a collaborative effort with teachers, staff, families, and community volunteers to increase student achievement.

Padgett Elementary is committed to providing a quality education to all students. The teachers, staff, families, and community volunteers strive to build life long learners. Padgett Elementary is continuously working on producing technologically proficient students who will make positive contributions to society. We believe all students can learn.

School History

Our Beginnings

Padgett Elementary opened in the Fall of 1964. It is named after a former Polk County School Board member and Trustee, Edgar L. Padgett. When Padgett first opened, the student population was about 360 students in grades first through sixth. The school housed 12 classrooms, a library, administrative suite, and cafetorium. Joe Gillen was the first principal and head of an 11 member faculty.

Recent History

Padgett Elementary is located in Northwest Lakeland at 110 Leelon Road. It is a single story, brick facility with six buildings. The main building, known as Libertyville, has the school office and cafeteria along with first and second grade. A second building, known as Freedom Land, houses all kindergarten students, one first grade class, and one pre-k class. The third building, Democracy Island, houses third grade and ESE/self contained resource unit, and Art. The fourth building is our Media Center. Fourth and fifth grade students are located in Patriots Place. The school's current enrollment is approximately 565.

Code of Conduct and Other School Policy

Parents should remember to bring a driver's license when visiting or checking a student/s out. This is a district requirement. It is also required that the Fast Pass Security System, located in the main office, is used when visiting the school.

Please do not check out students after 2 p.m. unless it is an extreme emergency.

Parents must update any change of address or phone information with the front office as soon as possible.
