Accelerated Reader Quizzes
The Accelerated Reading Program (AR) is a reading comprehension program designed to monitor student’s comprehension while encouraging them to read. Students take the STAR test to determine their reading level. Each student is given a goal to work towards. As each student reads a book on their reading level and takes a test they are given points toward their goal.
Renaissance Home Connect is designed for parents to be involved by connecting from home to make personalized reading practice even more effective. By using Home Connect, students and parents are able to:
- See progress towards reading goal.
- Conduct book searches. (www.arbookfind.com)
- Review AR quiz results.
- View number of books read.
For the 3rd Grading Period incentive, students who read and take an AR test within their reading range and pass it with at least an 80%, will receive a Book Fair Buck. The Book Fair Buck certificate will be given to the students before the school’s last Book Fair.
Sunshine State Books
All 3rd through 5th grade students are participating in reading Florida’s Sunshine State Books. Four students will be chosen to represent Padgett Elementary in competition at the District Book Bowl. The Sunshine State Books are:
