Behavior Management Program
Roosevelt Academy teachers and staff have been trained in the use of our behavior management program. It is our goal to guarantee that all students have the appropriate learning environment. We believe that all staff and students are responsible for the choices they make related to their behavior. Each student will be taught the expected behaviors and the consequences for not following these expectations, as well as the rewards for making proper choices.
Students will earn points every day for appropriate behavior. Each student can earn up to 200 points per block in the following areas, which constitute the basis of our Behavior Management Program:
- Dressed to code / Neat
- On time / Punctuality
- Doing assigned class work
- Prepared
- Accepts feedback
- Cooperates with co-workers
- Obeys safety rules
- Follows directions
- Appropriate use of materials
- Shows initiative
Students will participate in Leisure Activity Time (LAT) when they earn a minimum of 96% (senior high) or 94% (middle school) for a weekly average on their point sheet. Students who do not earn the necessary points will serve a Make-Up Session on Friday. During this time the Behavior Specialist in charge will discuss with each student the areas of behavior in which improvements need to be made.
Eagle Status
The goal of the BMP is for students to demonstrate appropriate employability skills. A student is eligible to earn Eagle Status when he/she has earned:
- A 98% weekly average for four (4) consecutive weeks
- No excessive absences
- No bus referrals or SIC
Students who have earned Eagle Status will be allowed to:
- Go to lunch 5 minutes early
- Enjoy Eagles Landing privileges
- Have first choice for LAT
- Have other special privileges as made available by the Principal
- Special Field Trips
