Sikes Elementary PTA
Sikes has a very active PTA which plays an integral role in supporting school projects in order to enhance our school program and projects. During 2010-2011 the PTA raised over $20,000 which was used in part to provide PE equipment, technology and incentives to students and teachers. In addition, our parents have provided many volunteer hours, helping with the organization of picture day, yearbooks, fall festival and fun day.

How can I help?
Sikes Elementary PTA would like to offer you an opportunity to become a sponsor and lend a hand in educating our students. We are offering you four options to help make an enhanced learning environment for all children through PTA sponsored events. Please choose from one of the following opportunities.
Check out the Calendar. You will find Sikes Share Days/Night with local food establishments that support Sikes Elementary. Tell your server you are from Sikes Elementary and a portion of your bill will help support Sikes Elementary.
This is on an individual basis.
As a member of the PTA you will work with the teachers, administrators, and the community to ensure a quality education and a true partnership between home and school. If you would like to become a member fill out the short application and pay a $5 membership fee. Make checks payable to Sikes Elementary PTA
Our strongest school program is community involvement which includes the following business partners:
Publix, Wal-Mart, Red Elephant, Sonny's, Palace Pizza, Beef O' Brady's, Bob Evans, Chili's, CiCi's Pizza, McDonald's, Winn-Dixie, area churches, parents, retired school teachers, and retirees.
Attention, new volunteers!
Because the security of our students is critical to the district, all volunteer applicants undergo a background check before serving in our schools. In the past, the district has been able to assume the burden of that cost, but recent budget constraints now prevent that. First time volunteer applicants will pay a one-time, non-refundable fee of $25 for a Florida Department of Law Enforcement background check (this is a tax-deductible fee for new applicants). Payment must be in the form of a money order (available for free at WalMart) or a cashier's check (available from your bank) and brought to the school where the application will be submitted. Some criminal charges can prevent applicants from being approved and are listed on the volunteer application, so that individuals can determine if approval is possible. If you are unsure of your approval status, check with the school office.
Volunteer approval is continuous from year to year and is applicable at all Polk County Schools. Payment for background checks does not apply to those who have been approved before 2009-10.
You must be an approved volunteer to go into your child's classroom, chaperone field trips, and help out during special events at school. All applications must be submitted before February 1st.
