Help Us Fight Counterfeiting
In an effort to reduce the circulation of counterfeit U.S. monies, the school district will no longer accept any $50 or $100 bills at any school-sponsored events. We apologize for any inconvenience, but ask that you support this initiative. Please plan accordingly when you attend our events. Thank you.
Dear Socrum Families,
I hope each one of you had a great holiday season and were able to spend
some valuable time with your family. Here we are in 2012 and getting ready
for the long stretch that will take us to FCAT testing time. There is still
a great deal to accomplish during these next several weeks and it is more
important than ever that we stay focused and maintain a learning mentality.
With hard work and focus we will maintain the excellence of the “A” we
received this year.
With the new year we do have some changes that will be occurring, however.
First, we had two of our long time employees, first grade teacher Nancy
Taylor and secretary Mary Ann Reis, retiring. We want to wish both of these
great ladies the best in their future endeavors. Secondly, we will again try
to help the afternoon pick-up to be quicker and safer. We are asking
Headstart parents to come in the front gate on the right side of the drive.
This will be marked as a right turn only lane which will allow Headstart
parents to enter the gated circular area for pick-up. The left lane at the
entrance will be designated as a through
lane which will then divide into two lanes at the very north part of
the parking area for afternoon pick-up. At the end of the two lanes we would
ask that each lane take turns to enter the one lane for pick-up. This should
help keep the gate clear for Headstart pick-up. If this sounds confusing, we
will have someone at each area to help direct traffic for a few days until
we all get used to the new traffic pattern.
I would also ask that we maintain one lane in the pick-up area and
that appropriate speed be maintained while on school property. Remember,
this is all done for the safety of our children.
This new procedure will begin on Monday 1/9/2012.
Thanks for your understanding and patience as we continue to make Socrum
Elementary a school of excellence.
