Education
Mr. Joe graduated from Kathleen High in Lakeland, Florida. He holds a B.A. degree in History and a minor in Education from Albany State College in Georgia. He holds a M.A. in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
Experience
Ernest Joe, Jr. began his career at Hancock Central High in Sparta, Georgia. In 1981, he was hired by the Polk County School Board as a Social Studies Teacher. In 1995, he was appointed Dean of Students at Southwest Middle School. In 1996 he transferred to Lake Alfred Middle School as Assistant Principal to assist with the opening of the new middle school. In February of 2000, he was appointed Principal of Auburndale High. He was principal there from 2000 to 2007.

- Create a state-of-the art High School that will prepare the students for the 21st Century and the advancements in technology.
- Create a safe and orderly environment for the entire school community.
- Use rigor, relevance and relationships to improve student achievement.
- Implement the Continuous Improvement Model.
- Hire certified and qualified instructional staff.
- Establish a program to have reading and writing taught across the Curriculum.
- Implement Saturday Academies to enhance student FCAT performance and student learning.
- Model district strategic goals for high schools to improve the graduation rate.
- Create a student-centered culture to instill a high performing learning environment for students in academics and career/technical skills.
- Will actively pursue and cultivate parent, community and business involvement.
