Principal: Dr. Brenda Hardman

Dr. HardmanDr. Hardman is prepared to further the high academic expectations and positive school culture at Union Academy. She began her career in education in 1998 as a journalism teacher at McKeel Academy of Applied Technology in Lakeland. She joined Polk County Public Schools as a Social Studies teacher at George Jenkins High School. She taught Advanced Placement, honors and regular American History plus World Geography and World History from 2001 – 2006. From 2006 to 2007 she served as an Administrative Assistant (Dean) at George Jenkins High and developed the first Freshman Academy. From 2007 to 2010 she served as the Assistant Principal of Administration in the opening of Tenoroc High School. As the Assistant Principal of Curriculum at George Jenkins High School from 2010 to 2013, she was instrumental in creating the district’s first Wall-to-Wall Academy high school as well as the only “A” high school in Polk County.


Assistant Principal: Dr. Alonzo Williams

Dr. Alonzo WilliamsDr. Alonzo Williams Jr. has 31 years of educational experience. During his educational career, he has served in various capacities ranging from the classroom (Elementary and Middle) to Dean of Students. Dr. Williams has served as an Assistant Principal of Administration for three years before his arrival at Union Academy Magnet School. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education and a Master of Education in elementary education from Florida A. & M. University. He has earned an Educational Specialist in Gifted Education from Nova Southeastern University and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from Walden University.`

Dr. Williams’ goal is to provide instructional leadership that will develop the intellectual, social and emotional potential of each student.
