Administration

Principal: Steve Petrie

Dr. Petrie brings to Union Academy a wealth of knowledge in working with students and parents. He has served as a teacher, guidance counselor, and school administrator. His administrative experience includes fourteen years as a school principal and seven years as an Area Assistant Superintendent. In 1994, he was recognized as Florida Principal of the Year, earning the Principal Achievement Award for Outstanding Leadership.

Dr. Petrie’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from Florida Southern College, Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling from Rollins College, Specialist in Education in Administration and Supervision from Rollins College, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida.

Assistant Principal: Dr. Alonzo Williams

Dr. Alonzo Williams Jr. has 31 years of educational experience. During his educational career, he has served in various capacities ranging from the classroom (Elementary and Middle) to Dean of Students. Dr. Williams has served as an Assistant Principal of Administration for three years before his arrival at Union Academy Magnet School. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education and a Master of Education in elementary education from Florida A. & M. University. He has earned an Educational Specialist in Gifted Education from Nova Southeastern University and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from Walden University.`

Dr. Williams’ goal is to provide instructional leadership that will develop the intellectual, social and emotional potential of each student.
