Clubs and Activities


The following clubs at Winter Haven High School provide students the opportunity to become actively involved in the school. All clubs hold open enrollment in the fall. Dues are required for some memberships.


Art Club
Open to students enrolled or have completed art classes and have a continuing interest in visual arts.

Band
The Pride of Winter Haven Marching Band is very active at all football games and in area band competitions.  Students must be enrolled in band courses.

Chess
A team sport for those students who enjoy critical and strategic thinking and who like to participate in chess tournaments.

Creative Writing Club

Drama Club
Open to students who enjoy and understand art through play and musicals.

Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA)
Students develop leadership through home economics in the home and workplace.
Sponsor- Mrs. Winniczuk
French Club
The French Club allows students to learn more about the French language, customs and culture.

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)
Open to students interested in developing business leadership by understanding free enterprise and citizenship.  Local, district, state, and national dues total $15. First FBLA meeting of 2009-2010 school year--September 3, Media Center.

Future Educators of America (FEA)
Open to all students interested in a career in the teaching or education field.  Sponsor-Mrs. PlowdenMrs. Plowden
Future Farmers of America (FFA)
Open to agriculture students who have continuing interests in citrus, livestock and parliamentary procedures.  When you think of the FFA, farmer comes to mind, right? Well, the FFA is a lot more than that, there is some farming, but there are also shows. This past year, FFA member showed cows, pigs, chickens, rabbits, and other animals. During these shows, there is the enjoyment of showing your animal, as well as cash prizes. If you are interested in joining FFA or interested in information stop by Room 52 (Ag. Building).

Interact
Students in Interact provide school service and leadership through the Rotary Club.

Inter-Club Council (ICC)
ICC is comprised of all Club Presidents who meet monthly to organize all club activities.

JROTC

Key Club
Promotes leadership through the Kiwanis with community-oriented projects.

Latin Club
Provides experiences in the heritage of western civilization.

Mu Alpha Theta
Open to students who have completed three courses of math experience, which allows them to compete in contests.

National Honor Society
Promotes excellence in scholarship, service, character and leadership. Based upon teacher evaluation and national guidelines.

Psychology Club

Spanish Club
Promotes the usage of Spanish through field trips and parties.

Student Council
Elected by the student body to promote elections, sponsors homecoming and services projects such as the canned food drive and the cancer drive.

Technology Student Association (TSA)
A national non-profit organization devoted exclusively to the needs of elementary, middle and high school students with a dedicated interest in technology. In TSA, students are provided with the opportunity for leadership development and competition through district, state, and national level conferences. Assisting TSA's 170,000 plus student members is a strong support system of educators, parents and business leaders who believe in the importance of a technologically literate society.
